I Am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Hey everyone! Today I want to talk about my religion and clear up some misunderstandings about my church. I said that I would talk about this in my last post Excited For General Conference!

The first question people ask about us is: Are we Christian? Yes we are. We believe that Jesus is the Christ and that He is the Messiah. People get confused because we call ourselves LDS or Mormons. These two titles say nothing about Christ. We have been asked by our prophet to call ourselves by our full name which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to make sure that Christ stays the focus of our lives.

You are also probably wondering what the letters on the ring in the picture stand for. They stand for Choose the Right. A lot of us wear these rings to help us remember to choose Christ. Sometimes that means choosing Christ’s way in the first place, sometimes that means choosing to be redeemed by Christ.

People also wonder about the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is something we read along with the Bible. The Book of Mormon is a record of Hebrews who left their land around 600 B.C. and came to the Americas. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God” (Article of Faith #8).

The last thing I want to clear up is that some people think that we are super judgmental because of our high standards and values. Most of us try not to be judgmental but sometimes it might come across that we are judging people. We are taught to see people as God sees them. God sees people as his spirit sons and daughters. Please understand that we are imperfect human beings. We are all fallen people living in a fallen world. Church is a hospital where we seek support and community it is also one of the places we can worship God.

I love my religion. I am so grateful to be a part of it. I hope you benefited from this post. Let me know in the comments if you have any more questions. Please keep it respectful.
